WHY SHOULD YOU SUPPORT THE MADAGASCAR ANKIZY FUND?
First and foremost, because it gives these bright and wonderful children
opportunities for a life that is now inaccessible to them, through a basic
education and good health. Second, unlike the case for many charitable
organizations, there is virtually no overhead. Funds donated to the Madagascar
Ankizy Fund go directly to the source of the problem. The paleontologists at
Stony Brook University, including both faculty and students, administer the
fund along with a small number of part-time staff. The Stony Brook Foundation charges 8% to manage the finances, a fee that is more than compensated through their investment strategies. As a result of voluntary efforts, wise investments, and the great disparity in cost-of-living in Madagascar, all donations to the Madagascar Ankizy Fund go a very long way to helping the children.
Please help!
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
An
entire two-room schoolhouse in rural Madagascar can be built and furnished
for $25,000. The annual salary of a teacher is $500 and school supplies
for a class of 60 students costs only $300. Monetary donations are thus
the most effective means to help. Although donations of items such as
books (which must be in French) and school supplies would be useful,
the costs of shipping and handling offset the effectiveness of this
kind of donation. It is more cost effective to purchase the items in
Madagascar. Please consider making a donation by sending a check to
The Madagascar Ankizy Fund.
